Outrageous Patriotic Haul Under $20

Planning on having a get together this Memorial Day or Independence Day? Don’t break the bank and still have money left over to burn! If you make a purchase with our affiliate links in this post we earn a small commission to keep things running at no extra charge to you!

I’m a shopper. I scoured Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, Target and Dollar Tree to see what I could pull together for $20: DOLLAR TREE is the place to go! I got what I needed and a few things I didn’t. My favorite purchase was under $5.00: Three patriotic glass jars and a box of 4 votive candles. Awesome!

If you want to spruce it up a bit, use these bandanas as napkins that come 2 per pack!

The featured image shows just what was $20. I will probably spend a little more for some extras. And yes, you need to buy now so you get the best selection.

Most of these items I will be able to reuse for Memorial Day and Fourth of July – YEAH! #beinspired

Are You a Box-Gourmet?

I see no problem using a box cake or cookie mix especially when you can dress it up so the results are amazing. I mean as long as it’s delicious, no harm done. There is a time and place to bake from scratch and I rarely have the time or place. So to survive I have adapted to being a Box-Gourmet.

The cookie cups in the photo below were made from a Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix. I doctored it up a bit with vanilla extract; you can also use a small amount of lemon extract for added flavor.

Just follow the package instructions. Put a small amount (about 3/4″ deep) of cookie dough in a mini-muffin cup; make small imprint with index finger, spoon in 1 teaspoon lemon curd, top with a sliced strawberry and a couple of blueberries. Bake at 375 F for 11-13 minutes. Let cool. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and enjoy! #beinspired
