Let’s celebrate Earth day by  making a lifestyle change and create new habits; it takes 30 Days to develop or change a habit.

Here are some suggestions for a new 30 day plan. Select at least one from the list that you currently NOT doing and do it for at LEAST 30 days.

  1. Recycle paper, plastic and glass.
  2. Stop using disposable plastic bags. Bring your own reusable bags to the grocery.
  3. Change paper billing to paperless billing on line.
  4. Take a shorter shower or change to a water saving shower head.
  5. Lower the temperature on your water heater.
  6. Use a cold water wash when washing clothes.
  7. Car pool, ride a bike or walk.
  8. Use environmentally friendly cleaning products.
  9. Pack your lunch in a reusable bag.
  10. 10.Don’t use single use plastic coffee pods.

Do you think you can manage all 10? I’m working on 4, 5 and 8.

In the meantime I came across the coolest portable, easy to use, rugged, reusable grow bag ideal for veggies. It holds  on average 1.5 cubic feet of soil. Are You Eating Clean?

The term “clean” eating is everywhere. But, what does it really mean? Certainly it’s more than washing your fruits and vegetables. I DON’T DO DIETS; for me they are counterproductive. But, eating clean doesn’t really sound like a diet so I’m embarking on the journey which involves reducing unhealthy processed foods and focusing on twenty clean foods. Clean foods being avacados, fruits, veggies, eggs and whole wheat pastas.

Unlike other diets, you don’t have to cut out breads and sugars all together. That is enough for me to jump on the band wagon. So with that in mind, I’m ready for a lifestyle change. That is what the Clean 20 is for: Changing Life and Body.

There really should be no shortage of recipes or boredom of food thanks to Instagram. It is so easy to lose your self for at least an hour just looking at stuff – other peoples stuff.

Smoothies for a Better Bod

Now that Spring is here thoughts of Summer are brewing:  Beaches, Bathing Suits and Sleeveless Tops. Whether you are male or female, we all inately want to look and feel our best. Now is the time to get ready for Summer and start a smoothie making routine.

However, you need to beware of what you put in your smoothie. Don’t trick yourself into believing that all smoothies  are created equal. For example, if you go to one of those local smoothie shops you will be blown away by the sugar and calorie content. You could be looking anywhere from 400 – 800+ calories. So if you are calorie counting, make sure you order a smoothie that is right for you.

Green smoothies are the best! High in nutrients and low in calories. The color usually freaks people out but, if you were blindfolded and had no idea of the color you would love it. My favorite basic “green” smoothie consists of:

  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 1 cup fresh baby spinach (packed tightly)
  • 1/2 cup fresh, frozen chopped pineapple
  • 1/2 cup fresh chopped peach (approx 1 peach)
  • 1 peeled banana
  • 1/2 cup of ice cubes
blend until it reaches the desired consistency or use the preset if you have a Vitamix

Making sure you keep your fridge stocked with all the fresh veggies and fruits and coming up with new recipes can be a  challenge. However, I have come across GreenBlender . Get Your Party On: Cinco de Mayo

Rev up your Cinco de Mayo celebration with awesome party decorations and an epic Taco Bar. Whether your holding your own celebration or attending another celebration GET YOUR PARTY ON!

Margaritas, tacos and nachos are the standard fare; but take it to the next level without running yourself ragged. If you don’t have time to make fresh salsa, fresh guacamole or homemade churros don’t fret. Our SIMPLE  Cinco de Mayo recipes won’t take up your precious time. If you cannot make fresh then go for the jar and doctor it up a little.


  1. Set up an epic nacho bar and taco station with all the fixings: cheese, salsa, onions, cheese (melted or fresh), sour cream, guacamole, fresh avacados, corn, chives and refried beans. Keep the beans on a warmer. Break out the slow cooker for chicken tacos and keep tortillas or shells in a warmer. This serves as double duty. Guests can make their own nachos and tacos.
  2. Knock them out with pitchers of margaritas and sangria. Put together a skinny margarita and a traditional margarita. Put out ice, salt and limes. Guest can keep refilling at will. Be sure to set up a cooler with Corona and make a few pitchers of Sangria.
  3. Wrap it up with tres leche cake, churros and mexican coffee.
